Country music isn't just for Trump supporters

During a campaign stop in Florida, Donald Trump said the reality of the election is "a small handful of global special interests rigging the system." Oct. 13, 2016. (C-SPAN)

I just read Nancy Langer's commentary ("Clinton should go country," Oct. 13). This is satire, right? It's got to be because otherwise, I don't understand how The Sun could publish something where the author seems to think that all country music supporters are conservatives who really should be liberals. Or is it that only white, working class folks are country music fans?

This is just ridiculous nonsense that's trying too hard to put a positive spin on — well, I can't really understand what her ultimate point is.

I won't even argue the political point. Lots of people from every demographic enjoy country music. I'm one of them myself. While musicians are free to support who they want and write whatever sort of songs they like, saying that an entire genre of music supports one political view is like saying everyone who listens to hip hop and rap must support Black Lives Matter.
