Your editorial on President Barack Obama's speech at the Coast Guard Academy graduation ceremony rightly commended him for his straightforward discussion of climate change ("The danger of climate denial," May 22).
The president pointed out that atmospheric carbon dioxide is higher than it has been for 800,000 years and described global warming as a significant threat to our national security.
Unfortunately, this excellent speech followed hard on his approval for Shell Oil to drill in the Arctic.
It would be nice to think he knew what he was doing.
