Mary Pat Clarke on Helen Bentley's legacy

Former Sun reporter and Maryland congresswoman Helen Delich Bentley remembers her time covering the Port of Baltimore for the Baltimore Sun. Bentley died on August 6, after a battle with brain cancer, she was 92.

Long live our fond memories of the feisty Helen Bentley, a larger-than-life Republican in the proudest tradition of that party ("Helen Delich Bentley, congresswoman who was a staunch advocate of the port of Baltimore, dies," Aug. 6). May her legacy be a return to "crossing the aisle" to duke it out for working men and women. Godspeed, and may frigates of blue collar angels guide her safely to port.
