We want to help rebuild Baltimore

As perhaps the newest member of Baltimore's corporate community, we at American Technology Services wanted to express our support for both the city and the region's economy in solidarity with Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and the Greater Baltimore Committee.

ATS announced the opening of a Baltimore location late in 2014 and has begun expansion in the city, taking space at 250 West Pratt Street. While some might question our logic in light of recent events in Baltimore, ATS sees this as an opportunity to play an important part in making Baltimore stronger. As Chairman David Warnock noted at the GBC's Annual Meeting earlier this week, this is a critical time for Baltimore to start recovering after recent setbacks ("Big business and the inner city," May 12). The city needs new human resources and capital investments to fuel this effort.

We couldn't agree more. ATS has committed to expanding its services in the Baltimore area, and we are doubling down. The incidents over the last several weeks arise from socioeconomic problems that we can help to solve. Businesses like ours have to be leaders and not turn our backs at this most critical moment. Despite its current difficulties, Baltimore remains a vibrant place that has much to offer. Bottom line: We look forward to being not only part of the local business community but also part of the solution as Baltimore rebuilds.
