I had expected so much from the new members of the Baltimore City Council. Unfortunately, their very first resolution to condemn Donald Trump's statements boggles the mind ("Baltimore City Council condemns Trump's rhetoric, days before his visit," Dec. 8). This has no bearing on Baltimore's problems. What were they drinking at the swearing-in ceremony?
Why pick a fight with our next president, especially since he was due two days later to be a Charm City guest? The resolution is not a way "to affirm the city's values." It was rude and foolish and could be detrimental to Baltimore's relationship with our leaders in Washington.
As a city resident, property owner and taxpayer, I'm appalled. We need to do better.
