Trump lies, then denies

President Trump's comments at CIA headquarters a classic example of 'alternative facts'

At CIA headquarters, President Donald Trump denied that he had a feud with the intelligence community by saying "I am so behind you" ("Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway calls incorrect White House claims 'alternative facts,'" Jan. 23).

Of course that conveniently doesn't count past comments about the intelligence community such as "these are the same people that said Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction." It also doesn't jibe with weeks of denying Russian involvement in hacking designed to influence the election and later (sort of) admitting it.

Of course, Kellyanne Conway's description of these discrepancies as "alternative facts" would be hilarious if they weren't so scary.
