It never ceases to amaze me how intrusive some people, mostly progressives (read: socialists), want to be. The latest example is in trying to get restaurants to stop offering soda to children ("Bill looks to put healthy drinks in kids' meals," March 12). Children, I might add that are in the restaurant with their parents.
There are several groups that think parents are incapable of seeing to their children's well being. I would name them from the morning paper, but they would probably want to sue me for embarrassing them. That idea failed because there are still enough people in the ruling class who think parents can decide what is best for their children. However, in order to save face these groups offered an alternative, i.e. that restaurants need to be able to deliver water and milk to the young folks. Really! Is there a restaurant anywhere that does not serve water and milk?
Of course the rulers embraced this compromise since they did not want to lose the contributions these do gooder organizations give them every year. Is there no end to how intrusive some people want Government to be?
