Adhering to the tenets of Catholicism doesn't make you an extremist

According to the authors of the op-ed "Freedom of and from religion" (June 18), the following and their supporters are "extremists":

U.S. Catholic Bishops Conference (Catholics are the largest Christian denomination in the U.S.); World Vision, Saddleback Church, and other "religious extremist groups" (presumably meaning other significant Christian, Jewish, and Muslim communities who disagree with some or all of their "truth is clear" statements), and other "extremist religious business interest groups" (unnamed).

Add to these past and present Republican presidential candidates, the Republican Party (despite the results of the 2014 elections), the Obama administration, by inference to the Hobby Lobby decision the U.S. Supreme Court, and "elected officials of every stripe and creed".

All together quite a large swath of the American population.

Obviously by their own words the have identified the true extremists —themselves!

I find it appalling that the Sun would see fit to print this demagogic rant.
