Cardin's comparison of Russian hacking in the recent election to attacks on U.S. soil is tasteless and extreme
On the floor of the United States Senate, Sen. Ben Cardin likened the Russian hacking of the presidential election, where their meddling changed no votes and resulted in no loss of life, to the attacks of 9/11 and Pearl Harbor ("Getting to the bottom of Russian hacking," Jan. 25).
Such hyperbole and ridiculous rhetoric is damaging to those who lost loved ones in the attacks. Perhaps, Senator Cardin should be more careful when speaking. His reliance on the Democrats' talking points is harmful.

Cardin has badly overstated the impact of Russian hacking on U.S. residents.
