Steven Pinson ("Cardin a poor choice for business committee," Jan. 5) January 5) says Sen. Ben Cardin is a poor choice for a leadership role in the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee because he has a low rating from the National Federation of Independent Businesses. According to information available online, the NFIB claims to have about 350,000 members, whereas there are over 27 million small businesses in the country. I question how much weight should be given to a rating given by an organization that represents less than 2 percent of all small businesses. It might be useful to know why so few small business owners bother to join NFIB before assuming that it speaks for them.
