The liberal media's favorite whipping boy

Marking the tenth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, former President George W. Bush said today is a day to celebrate the resurgence of New Orleans schools, most of which are now charter schools. (AP)

Reading your letters column I was once again struck by the rabid liberal bias of your contributors regarding former president George W. Bush ("Obama's flood performance," Aug. 29).

All one needs do is compare the former president to the current occupant of the White House to arouse the vituperative slanders and libels against the last Republican president.

It is astonishing to me that The Sun can even claim to offer unbiased coverage of the news. There was a brief hope in the astounding cartoon about a week ago that tarred both candidates with a truthful brush and offered a divergent perspective from the pat rants of Democrats. But it didn't last.

It has been eight years since Mr. Bush vacated the White House. Yet the venom liberals spew at him is forever spurting.

As a park ranger I enthusiastically volunteered to work the National Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony presided over by Mr. Bush in 2001. But I would respectfully decline to see the current occupant illuminate the tree.

I can bite my tongue, as most Conservatives are expected to do, or be stridently drowned out by the liberal din.

The Sun may shine a light, but it's not for all because it offers warmth only to liberal Democrats, while conservative Republicans are left to shiver in the dark.
