I like Anthony Brown's obvious guts.
Having been overseas for four months, I had no idea who the candidates for Maryland governor were when I returned this summer. I first learned that Larry Hogan was the Republican candidate from a yard sign and only later found out Anthony Brown was the Democratic candidate.
Then I read the first couple of paragraphs in The Sun about the race and remarked to myself "there goes another Republican running against his party's own policies" — just like Mitt Romney who recently referred to the need to do something about the poor.
I find it interesting that Mr. Brown, who is well ahead in the polls, has chosen to give his underdog opponent a forum in three televised debates. That takes guts. You have to admire him for going through an unnecessary trial of fire. Good for you, Anthony Brown.
