It is absolutely outrageous that Heritage High School threw away books that it could have donated to people in the city to read ("Teachers, councilmen criticize disposal of textbooks at closing school," June 16).
One place the school could have given books to is The Book Thing on Ivy Lane off Greenmount Ave. So many people could have availed themselves of wonderful literature for free.
I am very saddened that a place that should respect learning could be so uncaring and imprudent.
