Commentator Bruce Hamilton offers a good suggestion about how House Speaker John Boehner can get out of the box he's in ("The way out for John Boehner," Oct. 9).
Another way would be for the speaker simply to put a "clean" bill up for a vote, saying that the good of the country matters more than whether he keeps his job.
Just doing that would cement his place in history. But he probably won't do it.
