Will we ever remove race from the discussion of crime ("Rawlings-Blake calls for 'new ideas' to reduce black-on-black crime," March 16)?
Let's help men take responsibility for the children they father regardless of skin pigment. Let's confront police officers and prison guards who abuse power and wielding of weapons no matter their ethnic origin. Let's convict those of wealth who turn their backs on a society that needs help with the poor and disadvantaged regardless of racial group.
Very few of us are of pure ethnic background. Our current president is biracial. I agree with the reader who says that focusing on black-on-black crime is a mistake ("Mayor's focus on black-on-black crime is divisive and unhelpful," March 17). I disagree when she goes on to point out other issues clearly fueling racial divisiveness.
