Don't make light of 'suicide watch'

First and foremost, let me say that I am a Baltimore Ravens fan win, lose or tie and will be to the day I die. But owner Steve Bisciotti's recent comment, "I am off suicide watch, I am stable mentally," goes beyond the pale ("Despite 'worst year as an owner,' Bisciotti happy with team's success," Feb. 24). For the families of people who have committed suicide and people who have tried to commit suicide, this comment may have been meant to be a joke, but it flopped.

Mental illness is not a joke. It is called the invisible illness for a reason. Mr. Bisciotti should be ashamed of himself for making light of this. I am sure he would not make a similar comment about cancer or seizures. Someone in the public eye should watch what comments he makes.

I am so disgusted by this behavior. If he only knew my story, it would probably make him cry. I hope and pray that no one in Mr. Bisciotti's family ever suffers from mental illness.
