Netanyahu seeks peace, Iran wants war

It's hard to understand the perspective of Adil Shamoo ("Netanyahu wants war," March 4). Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wants to avoid war, which is why he is urging world leaders to eliminate Iran's ability to develop and launch nuclear weapons. Why exactly does Mr. Shamoo believe Iran has built tens of thousands of centrifuges and is developing a ballistic missile capability, if not in the pursuit of a holy war against Israel and the West?

Is it not Iran that has threatened to annihilate the Jewish state? What exactly does Mr. Shamoo believe that Mr. Netanyahu should do about such threats? Mr. Shamoo should also face up to the fact that the only reason the Palestinians do not have a state of their own is that they want to deny Israel a state more than they want one of their own — otherwise, they would have one already.
