In regard to Beretta's decision to leave Maryland ("Beretta's back story," July 24), much like President Barack Obama, Gov. Martin O'Malley has lived off taxpayers most of his adult life, so he knows nothing about how businesses are run. Governor O'Malley and most of Maryland lawmakers have shown over the years how little respect they have for people who work in manufacturing; the only time they get involved is after a plant is closing like Bethlehem steel did. Unlike government, businesses have to make profits to survive where in government they just raise taxes on workers. I remember when there where tens of thousands of manufacturing jobs in Maryland and we were the backbone of the tax base.
