There is one glaring omission from the list of new members appointed to the board of the Baltimore Development Corp ("Board changes at BDC as new president Cole steps in," Aug. 28), and that is a person to represent Baltimore's preservation community. It is imperative that such a voice be represented on the board as preservation in an historic city benefits economic development. Visitors flock to cities that retain and showcase their distinctive pasts rather than demolishing it. With proper leadership, historic preservation and economic development can move forward hand-in-hand. As for new BDC President Bill Cole, we are counting on you for your leadership and wish you well.
