Why is The Sun ignoring UM's winningest team?

Last week both the UM men and women's basketball teams played important conference games. Yet the next morning there was absolutely no coverage in The Sun of the women Terps' big victory that kept an 18-game winning streak alive.

Instead, on the front page that same day was a big photograph of Melo Trimble, the men's Terps point guard sensation, with an accompanying article touting their victory.

On Saturday the women's win was finally covered on Page 7. But the next day there was another article about the men's team with a huge picture of their coach Mark Turgeon. It was the second front-page story in two days.

On Monday the Lady Terps, as they are called, not only won their 19th game in a row but also took home the Big Ten championship trophy. This was quite an achievement at any level of sports, yet the article was covered on page 4 while — you guessed it — there was another front page article about the men's team not being afraid of their Wisconsin opponents.

Not only does the women's team have a better record than the men, they have totally dominated every game during their first year in a brand new conference.

Coach Brenda Frese and her fabulous women's basketball team deserve a lot better than this! Is everyone in The Sun's sports department asleep at the wheel?
