No fighting in baseball

Regardless of who started the fight at the recent Orioles-Royals game, the violence by the "initiators" and "defenders" sets the wrong example for everyone especially our youth ("What type of discipline will Manny Machado face after charging mound Tuesday?" June 8). Violence in sports mirrors violence in our society and vice versa. Let the umpires call the game and get the league and club leadership to enforce the policy. Please, let there be no fighting as we are supposedly taught as children but have no models to learn from.

Would Manny Machado encourage college baseball players to behave the same way? How about high school? How about Little League? When is it OK? And did Buck Showalter really say, "Bring it on?"

I'm disappointed (yet again) with professional athletics and will try to stop watching.
