I was saddened to see the story of the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz pushed to page 11 in The Sun ("Terrors old and new, on Auschwitz anniversary," Jan 28). I would venture to say the 75th anniversary of the liberation will not be covered at all by your paper (if the paper version is still existent then).
I wasn't alive when the liberation of Auschwitz occurred, but I believe this is one of the most symbolically important and powerful occurrences of the past century. Gentile and Jew, young and old, should honor this event as sacrosanct for eternity.
How does the old quote read, something along the lines that those who do not know history are doomed to repeat it?
Something for The Sun to ponder.
