Last month, I had the great good fortune of seeing Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band at CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh. The building is spacious (without being cavernous), new (less than six years old), energy efficient and capable of holding 15,000-plus people comfortably. Baltimore has world class facilities for baseball and football but our indoor arena is archaic to say the least.
The needs of Baltimore City are great. But can Baltimore be considered world class with the aging (55 this year) dowager on Baltimore Street? Besides, the idea of Pittsburgh being one up on Baltimore ought to stir up someone's competitive juices around here!
