Insensitive festival schedule [Letter]

I congratulate the Maryland State Archives on its first-ever Family History Festival, which has been in the planning since January.

It is unfortunate and more than a little insulting, however, that over those 10 months the archivists couldn't avoid scheduling the event on Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the Jewish year.

That precluded many of the state's Jewish residents — virtually all of whom are the descendants of immigrants — from attending.
