If athletes don't want to stand for our anthem, the song that honors our country and the men and women who valiantly serve both at home and abroad, I think the solution is just don't put their behavior on camera ("Kaepernick and the inevitable intersection of sports, politics and the national anthem," Aug. 30).
Don't focus in on them, let them have their private moment (which is their right, but I think the NFL could fix this by contract), but keep it private and just don't show it. I, for one, will pay attention to who advertises at these moments and avoid buying their products.
