Alonso's pay for unused leave time was excessive

As a citizen of Baltimore I have to say I'm ashamed of the amount of money paid to outgoing city schools CEO Andrés Alonso for unused leave time ("Alonso cashes in on leave," July 29). Please tell me how a $150,000 payout is justified.

What was the city thinking? I know that I have no coffers to pull from when I need supplies or books or equipment to instruct the young minds in my classroom. My kids scored proficient this year on Maryland State Assessments. That's a huge jump from previous years. Where is my $150K?

Let's hope the new superintendent has more integrity about finance so that we can give our children the proper tools and budget to be successful. Good luck, Mr. Alonso, and thanks for ripping us off.
