EPA regulations: costly and responsible for unemployment

Your editorial lauding Lisa Jackson and the regulations that the EPA are implementing totally neglects to mention any costs involved in implementing the new regulations ("EPA administrator stands tall," July 10). Of course the EPA has legions of accountants that can cost justify any regulation by projecting future savings that no one can prove or ever will. But the costs to implement the regulations have a real immediate impact on the economy. The cost increases in power generation, transportation, and the myriad of other new regulations are going to significantly slow or even stop the recovery of the economy. I dare say that Lisa Jackson and the EPA are responsible for one or 2 percentage points of the 9 percent unemployment rate. Hurrah for Lisa.
