Have reservations? Great, we'll seat you in an hour

A recent article reported that restaurants may start charging for reservations people don't show up to claim ("Restaurant no-shows prompt fees for reservations," April 30). But what about restaurants that don't honor the reservations they do take?.

One such restaurant is G&M. We were a group of six with a reservation made five days ahead of the Saturday night that we visited. We arrived about 10 minutes early and were told that we would be seated shortly.

There were many walk-ins. After half an hour we asked about being seated and were told it would occur soon. After an hour we asked again and got the same response. Finally, we were seated — almost an hour and a half late.

As we were seated, we told our server about our displeasure at the long wait. We asked for a complementary appetizer. He came back with a terse "no" from the owner.

Though the dinner was good, no one in our group was happy about the long delay. The restaurant offered no explanation or extra service. I guess that the staff was so busy they didn't care about the travails of diners.

This type of restaurant should be dunned by the media. I will never return to G&M.
