Adam May, one of the best television journalists in the market, is leaving WBAL-TV and Baltimore for a corporate communications job in Minneapolis.
“After 20+ years as TV journalist and 15 years in Baltimore, it’s time for the next chapter ... and my family is excited!” the anchor and reporter wrote on Facebook on Wednesday.
“We’re heading back to my hometown of Minneapolis where I am going to work in corporate communications. This amazing opportunity allows me to be closer to my family, grow in a new career field and work a schedule that allows me more ‘dad time.’”
He closed with the kind of sincerity he brought to the air as an anchor and reporter.
“It’s been such an honor sharing so many personal stories,” he wrote. “My TV career was only possible because of the community’s support and trust. From the depth of my soul, THANK YOU! Final thought: Always be a critical media consumer- and seek the truth!”
“I’m just really overwhelmed by the support I’ve had in Baltimore. Also I’m really looking forward to life after TV,” May said in a direct message Wednesday, adding that he was looking forward to taking his son camping for a weekend this summer.
