WYPR's 'Maryland Morning' to cease Friday; Kast to host new 'On the Record'

WYPR's "Maryland Morning," originally hosted by radio host Sheilah Kast for nearly 10 years, will air for the last time Friday morning. But a new show will take its place.

Kast, who has hosted "Midday" for about 10 months, confirmed Wednesday that she will host a new show called "On the Record," starting Monday, which will include in-depth interviews and reporting on current events.

The new show will air after "Morning Edition" from 9:30 to 10 a.m. weekdays.

Tom Hall, who was the most recent host of "Maryland Morning" and an arts editor for the show during Kast's time as host, will move to "Midday" from noon to 1 p.m. weekdays.

The shifts to programming were announced by WYPR earlier this month, but "Maryland Morning's" fate and the name of Kast's new show had yet to be decided, according to Andy Bienstock, the station's vice president and program director.
