WBAL-TV anchorman Rod Daniels is retiring after more than 30 years on Baltimore airwaves, the station announced Friday.
His last broadcast will be the 6 p.m. news on May 22.
"I am grateful to WBAL-TV, and our parent company Hearst Television, for trusting me with carrying the banner of Channel 11 for more than three decades," Daniels said in a statement from the station.
"I will cherish the time I spent with some amazing co-workers. I would especially like to thank our viewers for their loyalty over the years. Their support is the reason for my success," the 63-year-old newsman added.
"It's not often a news anchor can claim more than three decades of service to a single television station," said WBAL-TV 11 President and General Manager Dan Joerres in the same statement. "Rod has made significant contributions to both our station and to the city of Baltimore. He'll always be a respected member of our WBAL-TV family."
Daniels, a graduate of William Paterson University with a B.A. in speech communications, joined WBAL in 1984.
