Baltimore-made "House of Cards" won two technical Emmys Sunday for cinematography in a single camera series and casting.
The awards were announced at a dinner Sunday in Los Angeles. The awards telecast, at which the major Emmys are announced, will be held this coming Sunday and shown on CBS.
The series, which was streamed on Netflix instead of airing on network or cable TV, offers a new business model for the industry.
Overall, "House of Cards" has nine Emmy nominations.
"We are so proud that both Casting and Cinematography were recognized with these historic Emmy wins for 'House of Cards' and Netflix," Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer for Netflix, said in a statement after the creative Emmys were announced.
"Behind the Candelabra," an HBO movie about Liberace, won the most technical Emmys Sunday with eight.
