"I've been at the @nytimes since leaving college so it's surreal to be leaving," Stelter said in another tweet. "I've learned eveything here. To my colleagues: thank you."
It was an interesting sign of the media times to follow Stelter's tweets running ahead of CNN PR effort.
"It is an honor to take the helm of Reliable Sources, the very best of a very small number of programs about the media's role in society," Stelter said in the release from CNN.
"I'm equally excited about reporting throughout the week on CNN's many digital platforms and television networks. CNN is reimagining media coverage at what is the best time ever to be covering media, and I'm very happy to be a part of it."
On Nov. 3, "Reliable Sources" drew an audience of 391,000 viewers to CNN, while "Media Buzz" was seen by 911,000 viewers in head to head competition at 11 a.m.
