I still go over to the old place once a day to check the locks, turn a couple of lights on in the evening, clean out the spam from the comments. Come warm weather, I guess I'll have to cut the grass there every few weeks. It's kind of eerie, you know, the place still completely furnished with all those posts but silent now, and abandoned. It's been less than a week, but nobody goes there any more.
Nobody, including me, has gotten quite used to the new digs, either. Oh, Alex comes around, as you'd expect. But the old crowd, the Wordville gang, doesn't show up as much as they used to. Not a peep from Picky or Her Terseness. Sometimes I feel as if I'm just rattling around in here.
So maybe I should offer some additional housewarming attractions.
I'm going to start filing the Word of the Week here, so you don't have to go to another location to find it. Steve Sullivan will be working on the effects for the podcast of "Grammarnoir 3: The Wages of Syntax." Later this week I plan to launch the first installment of "Grammarnoir 4: Final Edition." Once that serial is complete, I plan to issue a casting call in the newsroom to record the podcast with multiple voices. And, of course, the usual provocations about language and journalism and politics and assorted topics will continue without letup.
Don't be stangers. The comments are open here to all of you.
