Mahler and Radiohead featured in today's Sun Lobby Concert

You can catch some classical music -- and a little Radiohead -- during your lunch hour today: Symphony Number One, under the direction of Jordan Randall Smith, performs a live concert in the Baltimore Sun’s Calvert Street lobby, starting at 12:30 pm, and you can watch the performance via Facebook Live.

SNO launched in 2015, a chamber-size orchestra dedicated to presenting masterworks alongside substantial pieces of new music. Here’s the review of its September 2015 concert by Tim Smith, The Sun’s fine arts critic.

Today’s program includes excerpts from Mahler, Handel and Radiohead, as well as an encore performance of new compositions presented at last spring’s Light City Festival in Baltimore.

SNO has concerts this weekend at St. Ignatius Church in Baltimore, featuring Mahler’s “Song of the Earth” and a new work by composer and Peabody Institute doctoral candidate Natalie Draper. It has additional concerts scheduled over the coming months, and recordings for sale.
