The opposing views on the Gaza conflict offered by two recent commentators compel me to respond to some important facts left out of the discussion by those sympathetic to Hamas ("Israel's unjust war," July 31, and "Hamas' unjust war," Aug. 1).
First, to compare the downing of Malaysian Airlines Flight 17 over Ukraine that killed all aboard to Israel's Iron Dome air defense system that has protected Jewish civilians from Hamas' missiles is ridiculous.
There would not be one Arab civilian killed if Hamas stopped launching missiles and putting its people in harm's way by agreeing to make peace and accept Israel's right to exist.
Unfortunately, what has not been reported about this conflict is the fact that from womb to tomb, most of the so-called non-combatant Arab woman and children civilians have been brainwashed by their leaders and their families to hate and kill all non-Muslims — Jews, Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, etc.
If this isn't an agenda of ethnic and religious cleansing, what is? Yet Hamas unjustly accuses Israel of something it itself is doing worldwide to others.
If they can get away with this in Israel I would not be surprised to learn they were building underground tunnels in America to attack the United States as well.
Israel does not advocate ethnic cleansing, it only builds walls and checkpoints to help keep out the terrorists who have been kidnapping, murdering and terrorizing its citizens for years. Palestinian Arabs who come in peace are welcome to live in Israel. But the Palestinian Authority and Hamas have made it clear that if they ever achieve Palestinian statehood in the heart of Jerusalem, no Jews will be allowed to set foot there.
In referring to civilian deaths, commentator Adil E. Shamoo never talks about the loss of precious lives on both sides. Why? Because Hamas doesn't value life as precious. It is even willing to allow its own children to become human shields and be killed for propaganda purposes so that it can blame Israel for their deaths.
Gaza is not occupied territory. It is completely under the control of PA President Mahmoud Abbas and Hamas. It was liberated by Israel during the Six Day War but later turned over to Mr. Abbas in the so-called Land for Peace agreement. Israelis gave up their beautiful homes, farms, greenhouses, etc., for peace, and all they received in return were rocket attacks.
Enough! Israel has to win this war on terrorism or we Americans will be next, especially, when we are allowing our borders to become a welcome mat for them to mix in with the recent influx of Central American migrants.
We're giving them a red carpet invitation to infiltrate operatives driven by dreams of establishing a global Islamic caliphate under the guise refugee women and children. Wake up, America.
