You've got to be kidding about Anthony Brown being our next governor. Are we that stupid? ("With money to spend, candidates for governor likely to launch ad blitz," May 28).
The election will take place soon. We are about to have a coronation whether we realize it or not as the big money continues to roll in.
Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown is not a bad person but he botched the rollout of the Affordable Care Act in Maryland and he continues to support the disgraced state Sen. Ulysses Currie.
Moreover, he had the arrogance not to show up for an important debate with state Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler and Del. Heather Mizeur. He offers no apology that absence and simply awaits his turn to govern our state.
What is wrong with that? It's the Democratic machine controlling this process. The Democratic machine is rolling over Marylanders as if we didn't exist. The emperor has no clothes and none of us can see his nakedness.
Who is running the Democratic machine in Maryland? Gov. Martin O'Malley, Rep. Elijah Cummings, Sens. Ben Cardin and Paul Sarbanes, Baltimore City Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, state Senate President Mike Miller, House Speaker Michael Busch and all those up and down the line who have to muster up and salute Brown in Annapolis. They all stand at attention.
And let us not forget Del. Maggie McIntosh, who conveniently arranged a community meeting for Mr. Brown while his chair was empty at the debate. The ghosts of Baltimore political boss James H. "Jack" Pollack and the Democratic Club bring back memories of the past. Don't we have any other options?
Ms. Mizeur would be very refreshing and challenging. Are we ready for her? Is this that odd year where the Republicans show their heads? Larry Hogan saw an opening, but can he do it? I think not. The Democratic Party in Maryland is too strong and sticks together no matter who it picks.
