Date: Oct. 18
Her story: Danielle Snyder, 27, grew up in Elkton. She works in marketing at Remline Corp. in Newark, Del. Her parents, Joe and Linda Snyder, live in Cecilton.
His story: Alexander "Alex" Lloyd, 27, grew up in Halethorpe. He is a former chef and works in IT at the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences, or INFORMS, in Catonsville. His mother, Gina Campbell, lives in Fulton, and his father, Bruce Lloyd, lives in Eldersburg.
Their story: A mutual friend introduced Danielle and Alex in 2004 during their freshman year at Villa Julie College (now Stevenson University) in Owings Mills. They started dating about two weeks later but say they didn't have an official first date since they both lived on campus and saw each other frequently. They now live in North East, a waterfront town in Cecil County.
The proposal: On Christmas 2011, Danielle and Alex were opening gifts at Alex's mother's house with his family. When Danielle opened her last box, she found a second wrapped box inside. She opened that box to find a third box holding a bottle of champagne.
"There was a card, and it said 'I love you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you,' " says Danielle.
When she looked up, Alex was holding the ring and waiting to propose.
The venue: About 100 guests attended the ceremony and reception at Overhills Mansion in Catonsville. The Rev. Lauren Going of Divine Transformation presided. The couple's 6-year-old Shetland sheepdog, Grimlock, was also part of the day.
Decor and flowers: Cranberry red, navy blue, gold and gray were incorporated throughout the wedding. Numbers painted on white pumpkins served as table markers. Local Color Flowers of Baltimore made the bridal bouquets, boutonnieres and centerpieces using cranberry and white dahlias.
Her dress: The bride wore a strapless lace A-line gown by Justin Alexander from Louis Marie Bridal in Middletown, Del. She also wore navy blue high heels and a pearl hair comb, earrings and bracelet.
Bridesmaids' dresses: The women wore navy blue floor-length gowns in different styles from Lily's Bridal in Halethorpe. They also wore necklaces from Rustic Gem Jewelry on Etsy.
Men's attire: The men wore gray tuxedos from the Vera Wang collection at Men's Wearhouse. They each wore a pair of superhero socks — Alex wore Batman socks and his best man wore Robin socks. The remaining groomsmen wore Superman, Thor and The Punisher socks.
Music: DJ Aditya Desai of Absolute Entertainment in Baltimore entertained the guests. Danielle and Alex's first dance was to "Feels Like Home" by Randy Newman.
Food and dessert: Whitehouse Caterers at Overhills Mansion provided a carving station, mashed sweet potatoes and tortellini for dinner. SugarBakers Cakes of Catonsville made a three-tier cake with carrot and raspberry amaretto layers.
Favors: Guests received a jar of hot cocoa mix, rosemary-infused olive oil or vanilla extract — all of which were made by Danielle and Alex.
