Baltimore City Solicitor George Nilson claims pregnancy crisis centers engage in deceptive practices to lure women seeking abortions to their facilities ("Pregnancy center signs are necessary," July 24).

Give me a break!

The real threat to pregnant women's health is the way they are misled regarding the physical, mental and emotional risks of abortion, such as the link between abortion and breast cancer, mental illness and depression. Not to mention abortion fatalities.

According to the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, during a seven-year period ending in 2000, 55 women in the U.S. died from legal abortions. Sadly, they had never been lured into a pregnancy crisis center.
