Ehrlich sarcasm not helpful in debate

A gaping chasm has evolved in our country between those on the left and those on the right. Perhaps in an attempt to provide grounds for conciliation, The Sun has decided to run columns by former Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. I don't know what it will take to get the two sides of the political divide communicating productively, but I am fairly certain that Mr. Ehrlich's sarcastic style will not be part of the solution.

Here are some of the barbs from his latest column: "Seems that unique combination of Republican, Catholic, and pro-life was just too much for you to handle….breathless left-wing pundits…So much for the progressives' brief Obamacare-induced love affair with Chief Justice John Roberts…But we have come an awful (sic) long way since 1965. Our African-American president told me so.…"

All of his columns have this same derogatory tone which sets them apart from most of the opinion and editorial pieces that run in the Sun. I respectfully suggest that The Sun look for a better columnist to represent the views of the right.
