Police aren't the ones to blame for crime

Blaming the police for crime is like blaming firefighters for fires ("Sun lets Baltimore police off the hook for failures," July 10). The police cannot arrest people before a crime is committed.

Arresting probable criminals or those who look suspicious is not within their powers (thank goodness). The police have their problems, but the crime rate is not their responsibility.
