It is hard for me to understand your logic that the GOP should support raising the debt ceiling ("Debt ceiling: Republicans stand by their ultimatums," June 5). We the American people are paying the price for the many years of Democratic wasteful spending. The billions of dollars spent on illegal immigrants and the monies spent in Washington on Congressional pet projects to get a representatives' votes on President Obama's health care plan have cost our country dearly.

When will the Democrats realize that we do not have a tax problem, we have a spending problem? Right here in Maryland we are creating additional problems for our state. While wanting to increase our tolls to generate income (a tax on commuters), our governor wants to spend more money on illegals by giving them tuition breaks at our colleges. Is this the only way that the Democrats can get the Hispanic vote? The GOP is not interested in taking the country hostage but it is interested in saving what's left of our economy.
