Netanyahu is the one opposed to peace

The recent letter from Joel Glazer ("No matter what the UN does, Palestinians will never accept Israel as a Jewish state," June 3) could not be further from the truth. In fact, the Palestinians have been ready for years to enter into a just two state peace settlement with Israel. Unfortunately, Israel doesn't want peace with the Palestinians, today or ever.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made this clear when he addressed his fawning puppets in Congress last week. He started by saying that he was willing to make "... painful concessions for peace" without naming even one. He then listed his pre-conditions — no return to 1967 borders, no division of Jerusalem, no right of return for refugees, no acceptance of Fatah-Hamas unity government, Israeli soldiers to stay in the Jordan valley, a demilitarized Palestinian state, etc.

Mr. Netanyahu knows that the Palestinians could never accept these outrageous demands. Now he can blame them for the failure of the peace talks while he continues to steal more Palestinian land and water.
