'Borders' the wrong word for Israel's pre-1967 boundaries

A headline on your article "Obama speech shocks Israelis" (May 20) is inaccurate and potentially damaging to the discourse on peace.

The sub-headline proclaimed that the president "says talks must start with 1967 borders." Never once in his speech did the president use the word "borders."

He used the word "lines" when referring to Israel's pre-1967 boundaries. This is an important distinction. That language has been used for decades and is nothing new. But nowhere in the article did you elaborate on the distinction.
