A flawed gay marriage bill

Regarding your editorial "Justice delayed" (March 13), what you called a "disappointment" I call a total triumph. I totally disagree with your description of what actually happened when the legislators voted against "same-sex marriage" this month.

In my opinion, it was not an attempt to "remove a final vestige of state-sanctioned discrimination from our laws." It was a successful move to push the incorrectly titled "Civil Marriage Protection Act" toward the oblivion it so richly deserves.

Section 2-201 of the Family Law article, which provides that only a marriage between a man and a woman is valid in this state, has been in effect since 1973. My prayers and pleadings will remain in support for preserving it.
