Congress resembles Mad Hatter's Tea Party

Each new morning paper and evening newscast describes congressional activity that more and more resembles the Mad Hatter's Tea Party.

At the same time the mantra is "jobs," they propose to cut thousands and thousands of government jobs, especially if they relate to such nefarious liberal causes as the environment, education and social services, all of which relate to the natural resources and the grassroots people who have added the word "great" to the country they extol.

Where are the cuts to the arsenal of violence that continues to make our nation hated across the world? The GOP refuses to cut billions in Pentagon spending at the same time thousands of men and women, many of them young, and all of them representing the real soul of our country, are offering themselves, for a pittance, for service in this country and across the world, with results far more positive and lasting than all the "smart" bombs we can produce.

To paraphrase W.B. Yeats, "The best have quiet conviction while the worst are full of passionate intensity."
