Maryland's success on AP exams is a major accomplishment

I think Maryland's success in getting students to take Advanced Placement tests makes it a great example for other states to follow ("Md. leads in improvement for black AP test-takers," Feb. 10). They have great teachers who help students think independently. Schools prepare students for college by offering AP courses, and that helps students handle college material.

I think it is a great accomplishment.
