McChrystal got off easy

If you read the "Uniform Code of Military Justice," Gen. Stanley McChrystal got off easy.

What he and his crew did were court martial-grade offenses. If President Obama had only given him a slap on the wrist it would have opened the door to even bigger infractions by others who would have read this as a weakness on the part of the president. I agree with the president on this. He had no other alternative action except court martial.

Every new soldier, marine and sailor gets the same speech about the "Code of Conduct" and "Uniform Code of Military Justice." General McChrystal has been in the military long enough to have both of these edicts committed to memory.
