Monday night's horrific commute on MARC was the third caused by catastrophic engine failure in the last four weeks. The significant investments Maryland taxpayers have made in MARC will be wasted if Gov. Martin O'Malley continues to refuse to hold his transit team accountable for MARC's continued failings.
If Amtrak is truly the problem, they should be fired and new operators hired as transit officials in Boston and Virginia have done. It's time for MARC to stop being an excuse factory and instead to start running the dependable commuter rail that Maryland taxpayers have paid for and which riders deserve.
