Like many fans quoted in "Sorry season hasn't stopped Orioles fans" (June 20) I too find myself with a renewed interest in the team this year.
It has been several years since I gave up my season tickets. Although I haven't attended a game this season, I have been tuning into the broadcasts with greater frequency. Perhaps as suggested by Michael Brody, others are doing so to "establish a link to something more than themselves."
In my case, I believe it's more out of morbid curiosity. I'm curious to witness the many new and creative ways the team has found to lose. One never knows whether it will be a blown save, poor base running, untimely hitting or some entirely new blunder such as failing to complete a simple run down play in Saturday's game against San Diego. No doubt many Nascar fans tune in hoping to view a spectacular wreck. I watch the Orioles not wanting to miss the next on-field wreck. Nascar can clear a 21-car pileup in a matter of minutes; for the Orioles its it has taken 13 years and counting.
